What's the problem?

tank bolts are rusted and will not come off?

If you tank bolts are rusted you can remove them with a hack saw. Once removed, replace your gasket to restore appropriate seal and replace tank bolts.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Turn off water supply and flush tank. Remove excess tank water with sponge. Disconnect water supply line from tank fill valve.

  2. Unbolt tank from bowl by loosening nuts below toilet bowl. Lift tank from bowl.

  3. Remove old gasket. Slide new sponge rubber gasket (small side down) over nut on threaded end of flush valve.

  4. Place tank back on bowl so that sponge gasket fits evenly and bolts line up tank to bowl. If bolts are worn, replace with Fluidmaster model 6101 bolts or 6105 bolts.

  5. Install rubber washer, metal washer, then nut onto bolt. Repeat for second side of tank/bowl. Tighten nut evenly. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN or bowl may crack. Reconnect water supply line.
